The timing is sure in Weeki Wachee's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while River Ridge has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Weeki Wachee took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 54-25 win over Hernando. Given Weeki Wachee's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Hernando is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Weeki Wachee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rayana Coleman, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Coleman scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Paige Atwater, who scored 17 points.
River Ridge has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Alonso 54-4 at home. That 54-4 margin sets a new team best for River Ridge this season.
Weeki Wachee's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for River Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
