Nucla is 8-2 against the Miners since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Nucla Mustangs are on the road again and plays the Telluride Miners at 4:00 p.m. on February 9th. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Nucla had to settle for a 40-37 defeat against the Thunderbirds.
Meanwhile, Telluride's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Ridgway by a score of 26-23.
Telluride might have lost, but man, Emma Reggiannini was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. Reggiannini is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played.
Nucla's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Telluride, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.
Everything went Nucla's way against the Miners in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the Mustangs made off with a 49-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nucla since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
