The Deshler Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Marion County by a score of 61-58. While losing is never fun, Deshler can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Marion County is ranked 108th).
Marion County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joe Aldridge, who scored 22 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Aldridge has scored at least 25% of Marion County's points. Tye Madison was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Deshler has fallen quite a ways from their 12-3 record last season and are now at 1-5. As for Marion County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Deshler will head out on the road to face off against Russellville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Winfield at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Winfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Marion County likes a good challenge.
