The Liberty Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Beacon Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 710th, while Beacon is ranked 217th).
Last Thursday, Liberty was the victim of a tough 55-29 loss at the hands of Sullivan West. Liberty has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Beacon gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Port Jervis 63-11 on the road.
Liberty dropped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.4 points per game. As for Beacon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.
Liberty was dealt a bruising 82-15 defeat at the hands of Beacon when the teams last played back in January. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
