The Cheyenne Wells Tigers will challenge the Wiley Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
12 must be Cheyenne Wells' lucky number: they beat Stratton with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Tigers beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-6. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Mason Marriott was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Trey Scheler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Cheyenne Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wiley had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Springfield on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Grant Mauch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up six earned runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dixie Bitner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Devonte Pizarro, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Wiley's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Cheyenne Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Cheyenne Wells took their victory against Wiley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
