Clark/Willow Lake extended the longest winning streak in Eastern Coteau (9 Man) this week by beating Wilmot, 46-44. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Cyclones.
Clark/Willow Lake and the Wolves played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Clark/Willow Lake eventually emerging with a 46-44 victory.
Wilmot's dynamic duo of Austin Hulscher and Landon Hammer proved tough for the Cyclones to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hulscher threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns and Hammer had 117 yards receiving. Chase Bronson helped Wilmot's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 88 yards.
Alex Holzwarth made the biggest impact on defense this week as Hamlin topped Tiospa Zina. The 6-foot-1 junior racked up one sack.
Mitchell Giovannettone was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 148 yards on eight carries as Great Plains Lutheran lost to Clark/Willow Lake. Teammate Phil Bunkowske added to the ground attack by rushing for 70 yards.
Wilmot's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hulscher has thrown for 1309 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Hammer has 35 catches for 755 yards. Bronson leads the league in rushing with 743 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] takes on the Chargers. As it stands, the Tigers are in sixth, while Hamlin is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] takes on Jeff Sheehan's team. Steven Schiltz's team has allowed 83 points this season, while the Chargers have given up 36. The Tigers allowed 6 points last week as they defeated Waubay/Summit.
Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 581 from 653. The improvement was the result of 52-6 victory over the Dragons last week.
