Softball Recap: Durand Wins Going Away Against Chesaning

Durand lost to Chesaning back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Railroaders were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Indians. Considering the Railroaders have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Minto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Kayla Copeland was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Molly Hull was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The victory got Durand back to even at 6-6. As for Chesaning, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Durand is set to challenge their familiar foe New Lothrop at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chesaning will square off against rival Ovid-Elsie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
