East Union gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 64-12 victory over the Kimball Jaguars. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lancers also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.
Jackson Fay was a one-man wrecking crew as he picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 44 yards and a pair of scores. Kirk Simoni was another key player, throwing for 124 yards and two TDs.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Fay, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was East Union's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Erick Cortez and Gabriel Lopez, who racked up four sacks between them.
Coming up, East Union will venture away from home to square off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kimball, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
