Northside is 8-0 against the Mountaineers since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Northside Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Rogers Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Northside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
Last Friday, Northside faced the Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Northside made off with a 64-63 win over the Wildcats. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Erianna Gooden was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hazley Grotjohn, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Rogers escaped with a win on Friday against the Wolverines by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rogers.
Northside pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Rogers, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Northside took their victory against the Mountaineers in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 67-42. With Northside ahead 35-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
