This past Saturday, the Beach Buccaneers were out to avenge their 84-53 defeat to the Beulah Miners from their previous meeting last March, but they had no such luck. It was a hard-fought contest, but Beach had to settle for a 44-41 loss against Beulah. That's the fewest points the Buccaneers have scored all season.
Beulah found their leader in underclassman sophomore Trey Brandt, who had 24 points along with six rebounds. Brandt has been a consistent playmaker for Beulah as this was the fifth good game in a row from him.
Beach's overall record fell to 15-5. The victory was the 15th in a row for Beulah and raised their record to 17-3.
The Buccaneers will take on Hettinger/Scranton on Friday. Beach won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings. As for the Miners, they will face off against Hazen on Friday. Beulah has the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency.
