The Ezekiel Academy Knights will square off against the Fort Dale Academy Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ezekiel Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Ezekiel Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Heritage Christian Academy with a sharp 19-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the game before.
Lailyn Shelton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Jillian Newell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Newell, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Ezekiel Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Fort Dale Academy came up short against Crenshaw Christian Academy on Tuesday and fell 8-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.
Bailey Lambert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Ezekiel Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fort Dale Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Ezekiel Academy couldn't quite finish off Fort Dale Academy when the teams last played on Friday and fell 8-6. Can Ezekiel Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
