Baseball Recap: Beachside Drops Season-High Score on Orange Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beachside). They never let the Orange Park Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Barracudas with their most commanding win of the season.

Brennan Monaco made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other pitching news, Wyatt Winget and Cohen Cox dominated on the mound. Winget pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Cox tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Cox a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Zack Gwaltney, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Phillip Furukawa, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Beachside's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-13. As for Orange Park, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beachside will challenge West Nassau at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Nassau's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Beachside's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Orange Park, they will square off against First Coast at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Orange Park is facing First Coast at the right time seeing as First Coast is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
