Calvert Hall is 1-9 against Goretti since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Calvert Hall Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Goretti Gael at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Calvert Hall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Calvert Hall, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-47 loss to Severn School.
Calvert Hall's defeat came about despite a quality game from Brendan Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson scored a full 42.6% of Calvert Hall's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Maclaren Latoga, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Goretti's 26-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Mt. Zion Prep Academy by a score of 54-51.
Calvert Hall's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Goretti, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Calvert Hall couldn't quite finish off Goretti in their previous meeting back in February and fell 55-52. Can Calvert Hall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
