The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos will face off against the Cascade Cadets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ten must be Lafayette Jefferson's lucky number: they beat Muncie Central with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Bronchos didn't even let the Bearcats on the board, marking the Bronchos' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Bronchos in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won six in a row.
Mason Pechin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Pickering, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Preston Robertson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Cascade let Marcus Hobson and Toby Savini run wild. Hobson went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Savini got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cort Hubner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double.
Cascade's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lafayette Jefferson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
