The Wayland Warriors are on the road again on Friday and play against the Hopedale Blue Raiders at 5:15 p.m. on December 29th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Wednesday, Wayland lost to Bellingham on the road by a decisive 53-39 margin.
Meanwhile, Hopedale took a serious blow against Bourne on Wednesday, falling 71-42. While losing is never fun, Hopedale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Bourne is ranked 12th).
The losing side was boosted by Patrick Madden, who scored 20 points. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robbie Manning, who scored six points.
Wayland bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hopedale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Wayland suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to Hopedale in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Wayland, Cody Dicken (who scored 15 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
