The Manti Templars waltzed into Saturday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Grantsville at home to the tune of 75-41. Given Manti's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Grantsville is ranked 55th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reggie Frischknecht led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Frischknecht's third in a row with at least ten points. Maison Starkweather was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 4 steals.
Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryson Roberts, who scored 21 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Kell, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
Grantsville struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Manti racked up 24.
Manti's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Grantsville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manti will take on Union at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grantsville, they will be playing at home against Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
