The Muhlenberg County Mustangs will take on the Todd County Central Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Muhlenberg County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Muhlenberg County earned a 5-2 victory over Russellville.
Bella McCarraher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mia Jernigan and Joshlynn Noe did most of the damage at the plate: Jernigan went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Noe got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two stolen bases gave Jernigan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Watkins, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Todd County Central hadn't done well against Russellville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rebels put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 19-9 win. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Naomi Welborn was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Ella Hall, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Todd County Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Muhlenberg County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Todd County Central, their record now sits at 16-11-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muhlenberg County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Todd County Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Muhlenberg County's way against Todd County Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, as Muhlenberg County made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
