Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Cowboys vs. Gadsden County Jaguars

Madison County is 9-0 against Gadsden County since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Madison County Cowboys will head out on the road to square off against the Gadsden County Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Madison County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.

Gadsden County is hoping to do what Godby couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Madison County's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Madison County walked away with a 48-40 win over Godby.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jahlaya Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards. Wilson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralsharee Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Madison County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Gadsden County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 56-45.

Madison County pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Gadsden County, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Madison County against Gadsden County in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 64-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
