St. Mark faced Cape Henlopen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans put the hurt on Cape Henlopen with a sharp 14-3 victory. Considering the Spartans have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was St. Mark's third in a row) raised their record to 13-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Henlopen, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.

Looking ahead, St. Mark's will face off against Sussex Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cape Henlopen, they will challenge Caravel Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Cape Henlopen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
