The Shore Regional Blue Devils kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell to Toms River East 42-38. Shore Regional has struggled against Toms River East recently, as their contest on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Conley Smolokoff, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimi Sayson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Shore Regional's defeat was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Toms River East, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Shore Regional will take on Wildwood Catholic in a holiday battle at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday at. As for Toms River East, they will head out on the road to face off against Manchester Township at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
