The Sweet Grass County Sheepherders''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Three Forks/Willow Creek, falling 62-0. Sweet Grass County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Three Forks/Willow Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.
Three Forks/Willow Creek had a senior duo take command as Shane Williams threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns and Colten Hayder gained 140 total yards and two touchdowns. Hayder was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Andersen , who picked up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Three Forks/Willow Creek's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Marcus Pestel and his two sacks.
Sweet Grass County's defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Manhattan and 7-1 Columbus (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.6% over those games). As for Three Forks/Willow Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Sweet Grass County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Three Forks/Willow Creek is also done with their season.
