Mountain Pointe had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-17-1 to make it ten. They came up short against  the Horizon Huskies, falling  11-5. As for Horizon, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 9-8. They not only won  on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win  since March 20th (when they won  10-2).
On Horizon's side,  Pierson Hozza made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Hozza has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  Lexi Nolen was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run.  Hannah Felker was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 Looking ahead, Mountain Pointe will take on Desert Edge at 3:45  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Horizon, they will face off against Chaparral at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Firebirds have averaged an impressive 7.1  runs per game this season.
