LaBrae and Newton Falls are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The LaBrae Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Newton Falls Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully LaBrae focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
LaBrae stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard. They breezed by Bristol at home to the tune of 65-32. LaBrae's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
LaBrae found their leader in underclassman Ella Kuszmaul, who scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals. Kuszmaul is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Riley Rowe was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Newton Falls can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 53-23 win over Memorial on the road. The win was just what Newton Falls needed coming off of a 52-19 defeat in their prior matchup.
LaBrae's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.67 points. As for Newton Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
LaBrae was able to grind out a solid victory over Newton Falls in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 46-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for LaBrae since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
