The Blackstone Valley RVT Beavers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blackstone Valley RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Blackstone Valley RVT made easy work of Assabet Valley RVT and carried off a 10-3 win. The Beavers haven't had any issues with the Aztecs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Alex Vosburgh was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Advanced Math & Science Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Montachusett RVT by a score of 7-4.
Drew Laidley made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Laidley was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Wang, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. CJ Skowronek was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
The win got Blackstone Valley RVT back to even at 2-2. As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, their record now sits at 4-0.
Advanced Math & Science Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Blackstone Valley RVT hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Advanced Math & Science Academy, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Blackstone Valley RVT's hitters?
Blackstone Valley RVT was able to grind out a solid victory over Advanced Math & Science Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
