Forge Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Burke Jasa, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, and Levi Clark, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Jasa a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Torres, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's suffered their biggest loss since March 1, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by The Vanguard School 85-55. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Coursers: they've now lost three in a row.
Forge Christian will need to focus on slowing down Michael Trechter, one of several St. Mary's players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 for 12 en route to 13 points. Kisean Dawson was another key player, putting up 12 points and six boards.
Forge Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's matchup: Forge Christian has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 34.5% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for St. Mary's, though, as they've only made 29.3% of their threes this season. Given Forge Christian's sizable advantage in that area, St. Mary's will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Forge Christian against St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as the team secured a 72-34 victory. Does Forge Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Mary's turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
