After flying high against the Isabella Mustangs on Wednesday, the Maplesville Red Devils came back down to earth. Maplesville opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-41 defeat to Jemison. Maplesville lost against Jemison in their previous head to head back in February of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 68-55 score last time.
Maplesville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakobe Nix, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah McCary, who scored 13 points.
Maplesville's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Jemison, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Maplesville will head out on the road to face off against Notasulga at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Notasulga is ranked 388th, while Maplesville is ranked 368th). As for Jemison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
