De La Salle is 7-0 against Monte Vista since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The De La Salle Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Monte Vista Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. De La Salle is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, De La Salle didn't have too much trouble with El Cerrito at home as they won 31-12. Given De La Salle's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while El Cerrito is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clayton Valley Charter. Monte Vista has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Julian McMahan, who rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Jacob Shehata also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
De La Salle's win lifted them to 6-2 while Monte Vista's loss dropped them down to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for De La Salle against Monte Vista when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 41-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for De La Salle since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
