Football Recap: Skyview Starts Season with Win Against Thornton

Skyview had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 47-0 win over the Thornton Trojans. The Wolverines not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6, 2024 (when they won 50-0).

Skyview was led to victory by Carlos Carillo and Devante Sepuleda. Carillo rushed for 87 yards and two scores, while Sepuleda rushed for 101 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skyview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thornton only rushed for 83 rushing yards.

Another reason for the win was Skyview's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jose Sierra and Kipley Mapson, who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyview will challenge Hinkley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thornton, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Westminster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
