The Kimball Longhorns fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 38-26 win over Sutherland on Thursday. For Kimball, this counts as revenge for the 35-27 loss Sutherland walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Kimball found their leader in underclassman Addy Olson, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Olson has scored at least a third of Kimball's points. Grace Anderson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Kimball's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Sutherland, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kimball will challenge St. Patrick's on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (St. Patrick's is ranked 215th, while Kimball is ranked 223rd). As for Sutherland, they will head out on the road to challenge Hyannis at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hyannis is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
