Mountain Valley are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Sierra Grande on Friday at 1:00 PM. Both of these teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times (Sierra Grande picked up 485 yards, Mountain Valley 545).
Mountain Valley ran circles around Cotopaxi last Friday, and the extra yardage (545 yards vs. 211 yards) paid off. Mountain Valley put a hurting on Cotopaxi to the tune of 68-14. Senior Isaih Wellman, who rushed for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in Mountain Valley's success. In fact, with 15 tackles Wellman was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Sierra Grande simply couldn't be stopped, as they easily beat Primero 64-13. With Sierra Grande ahead 52-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Their wins bumped Mountain Valley to 2-0 and Sierra Grande to 2-1. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
