The Pace Patriots put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Fort Walton Beach by a score of 48-41. For Pace, this counts as revenge for the 50-44 loss Fort Walton Beach walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pace to victory, but perhaps none more so than Veronica Canevari, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Canevari pulled down eight or more rebounds. Aisley Shields was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Despite the defeat, Fort Walton Beach saw an underclassman step up: SaRuan Newton scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Adaysha Holliness, who scored eight points.
Pace pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Fort Walton Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pace will take on Jay at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jay is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Fort Walton Beach, they will head out on the road to face off against Niceville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Niceville will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
