Bradford Prep hasn't had much luck against Pine Lake Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Pride at 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bradford Prep's offense. They lost 10-0 to Pine Lake Prep on Tuesday.
For Pine Lake Prep's part, Emma Rette and Emery Jensen were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Rette pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jensen struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Rette went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Jensen fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Jensen a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Dabbs, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Landis, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Pine Lake Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .462 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Pine Lake Prep's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Bradford Prep, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bradford Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Pine Lake Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
