Baseball Recap: Preston Extends Winning Streak to Three

Preston won against Bear Lake last Saturday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Indians came out on top against the Malad Dragons by a score of 10-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Conner Thomson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Thomson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ezra Benavidez was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Levi Despain was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Preston pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Malad, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Preston will host Marsh Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests. As for Malad, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Declo at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
