The Lugoff-Elgin Demons will challenge the Camden Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lugoff-Elgin will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Two weeks ago, Lugoff-Elgin beat Westwood 9-6.
Cassie Merriweather spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Lugoff-Elgin got a massive performance out of Haleigh Miranda, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those four hits gave Miranda a new career-high. Ella Sheorn was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lugoff-Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 13.6.
Meanwhile, while Camden put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Dreher. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Blue Devils. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Maddie Stokes was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Kennedy, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Audri Phillips, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Lugoff-Elgin pushed their record up to 7-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Camden, they moved to 7-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lugoff-Elgin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Camden struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lugoff-Elgin couldn't quite finish off Camden in their previous meeting back in March and fell 3-1. Will the Demons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
