Cameron took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over the Valley Lumberjacks. The Dragons have beaten the Lumberjacks the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lumberjacks has come to flipping the script.
Aubrey Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Kendra Thomas was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Bailey Long was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cameron will head out to square off against West Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Trinity Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
