The Shenandoah Zeps kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-49 walloping at the hands of Union Local. Shenandoah lost against Union Local in their previous head to head back in February of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 60-37 score last time.
Union Local's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dre Saunders led the charge by scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Isaiah Tomolonis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Shenandoah's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Union Local, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Shenandoah will be playing in front of their home fans against Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union Local, they will head out on the road to face off against John Marshall at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
