The Charlotte Catholic Cougars will square off against the T.C. Roberson Rams on Friday. Charlotte Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Charlotte Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against East Forsyth by a score of 8-4.
Jon Fijalkowski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Quinn O'Rourke looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Paul Greeley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hucko, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for T.C. Roberson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Northwest Guilford on Tuesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.
Charlotte Catholic pushed their record up to 22-5-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for T.C. Roberson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
