3A Region 3 recap October 1, 2013
Hoxie scaled the state rankings by moving to 72 from 100 this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region 3. The Mustangs were able to move up by defeating Osceola 55-20.
Hoxie added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Seminoles, 55-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for Jeremy Parmer's team.
Rivercrest's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Marquez Chew threw for 127 yards and Kani Turner had 127 yards receiving. On the ground Timothy Talley chipped in 70 yards.
Talley was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 70 yards as the Colts beat Harrisburg. Teammate Chris Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 70 yards.
Rivercrest's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Colts feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Chew has thrown for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Turner has 11 catches for 245 yards.
The top two teams in 3A Region 3 will face off this week when first place Hoxie takes on second place Rivercrest.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Rivercrest takes on the Mustangs. Kelly Chandler's team's offense has recorded 100 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Hoxie has permitted only 40 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Colts take on the Mustangs. Rivercrest has allowed 89 points this season, while Hoxie has given up 40. The Colts allowed 26 points last week as they defeated the Hornets.
The Mustangs made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,802 from 7,929. The improvement was largely due to a 55-20 victory over Osceola last week.
