If the Texas School for the Deaf Rangers were feeling good off their 67-25 takedown of the Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Texas School for the Deaf took a 46-30 bruising from Indiana School for the Deaf on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Texas School for the Deaf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 808th in Texas, while Indiana School for the Deaf is ranked 278th in Indiana).
Several Rangers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Bradley, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bradley scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sulianie Casella, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Sophia Wascher continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Indiana School for the Deaf, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Wascher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Olivia Wascher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Texas School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Indiana School for the Deaf, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Texas School for the Deaf will head out on the road to challenge John Paul II at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. John Paul II is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Indiana School for the Deaf, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Irvington Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. Irvington Preparatory Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 14 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
