The San Diego Cavers will head out on the road to face off against the Clairemont Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Diego knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Clairemont likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, San Diego's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 victory over Canyon Hills.
Among those leading the charge was Jayden Wade, who picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns. D'angelo Besikof got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Clairemont was beaten by Hoover 42-6 on Friday. Clairemont was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
San Diego's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 3-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.7 points per game. As for Clairemont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.
Everything went San Diego's way against Clairemont in their previous matchup back in September of 2017 as San Diego made off with a 28-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Diego since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
