The Campbell County Cougars typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the Powell Panthers proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars and snuck past 35-33. This was a revenge contest for Powell, as the team was forced to settle for a 44-26 loss when these two played last Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Campbell County still got an impressive performance from Saylor Hutcheson, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Hutcheson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lacey Pemberton, who scored eight points.
Powell is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Campbell County, their loss dropped their record down to 18-4.
Powell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Knoxville Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Powell is coming into the contest with four straight victories on the road, so Knoxville Central is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Campbell County, they will be playing at home against Karns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Campbell County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
