There's no place like home for the Stanton Buffaloes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Alpine with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 58-42. Stanton pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Alpine cut but never quite recovered from.
Alpine's loss came despite strong showings from Novah Carrasco and Hope Dominguez. Carrasco scored 21 points along with nine steals and five rebounds, while Dominguez scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That was a full 50% of Alpine's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Smith, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Stanton's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Alpine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-16.
Stanton will head out on the road to take on Presidio at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alpine, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tornillo at 6:30 p.m. Tornillo has now lost 19 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 3.
