Doane Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northern Burlington Greyhounds at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Doane Academy and ten for Northern Burlington.
Doane Academy pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-61 to Trenton Catholic Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Doane Academy in their matchups with Trenton Catholic Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Nick Fusco, who scored 20 points along with six assists. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Hiatt Smith was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northern Burlington also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Cinnaminson by a score of 55-48. While losing is never fun, Northern Burlington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Cinnaminson is ranked 73rd).
Doane Academy's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Northern Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
