Hillsboro has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Independence Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hillsboro, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Hillsboro blew past Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, posting a 59-29 victory on the road. Given Hillsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Independence lost to Cane Ridge at home by a decisive 58-44 margin on Monday.
Despite the defeat, Independence got a solid performance out of Evy Nichols, who scored 13 points. Nichols has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Savanna Seay was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
The losses dropped Hillsboro to 2-1 and Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet to 0-4.
Hillsboro strolled past Independence when the teams last played back in February by a score of 42-27. Will Hillsboro repeat their success, or does Independence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
