Baseball Recap: Mulberry Comes Up Short at Home Against IMG Academy Black

Mulberry unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the IMG Academy Black Ascenders by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 14-6 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hayden Wyatt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Partridge, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Mulberry will take on Haines City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Mulberry has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for IMG Academy Black, they will face off against Braden River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. IMG Academy Black will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak dating back to last season.
