The Immanuel Christian Crusaders will square off against the Valley Oaks Charter Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Immanuel Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Valley Oaks Charter likes a good challenge.
Immanuel Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Trona, who was ranked 16th at the time (Immanuel Christian was ranked sixth). The Crusaders simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Tornadoes 62-22. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won six matchups by 34 points or more so far this season.
Immanuel Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mazyn Weaver out in front who threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punched in two rushing scores. Romelle Harris helped Weaver out on the ground, rushing for 69 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Immanuel Christian, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Harris, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Immanuel Christian's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank one different players for their defensive prowess: Harris, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.
Meanwhile, Valley Oaks Charter didn't have too much breathing room in their game against PAL Academy on Friday, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Coyotes.
The victory got Valley Oaks Charter back to even at 4-4. As for Immanuel Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Everything came up roses for Immanuel Christian against Valley Oaks Charter in their previous matchup back in August, as the squad secured a 44-6 victory. In that contest, the Crusaders amassed a halftime lead of 38-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
