Softball Recap: Homewood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Minor

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Homewood). They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over the Minor Tigers on Thursday. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Homewood got a massive performance out of Ava Robinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Robinson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Stuman, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Homewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Homewood pushed their record up to 12-7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Minor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Homewood will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jackson-Olin at 5:00 p.m. on April 1st. Minor also won't see the field for a while: their next contest is against Parker at 5:30 p.m. on April 1st. Parker will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Minor surely won't give up without a fight.
