East Bernard is 8-2 against Hempstead since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The East Bernard Brahmas will head out on the road to take on the Hempstead Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. Hempstead took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on East Bernard, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, East Bernard gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by Danbury at home to the tune of 75-42. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-11.
It was another big night for Maddox Crist, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Kovar, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Hempstead was beaten by Hitchcock 80-28 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Hempstead can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1152nd, while Hitchcock is ranked 139th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Calvin Thompson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Dontae Houston was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
East Bernard's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Hempstead, they dropped their record down to 15-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
East Bernard took their victory against Hempstead when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 59-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Bernard since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
