Softball Recap: Schurr Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Schurr came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bell Gardens Lancers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Schurr let Sarah Romero and Isabella Perea run wild. Romero went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Perea went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Romero a new career-high. Sarah Cervantes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Schurr hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Schurr's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Bell Gardens, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Schurr will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Muir at 10:00 a.m. on April 11. As for Bell Gardens, they will head out to take on El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on April 3.
