The Berlin/New Lebanon Mountain Lions will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Salem Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Berlin/New Lebanon and five for Salem.
Last Thursday, Berlin/New Lebanon took a serious blow against Argyle, falling 67-39.
Meanwhile, Salem struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Fort Ann had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Salem fell just short of Fort Ann by a score of 49-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Salem in their matchups with Fort Ann: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Salem had strong showings from Blaise Barrett, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals, and Josh Harrington, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Harrington's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kiernan Haskell, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Salem were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Berlin/New Lebanon's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Salem, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
